Rolf Gösta Calmeyer was born in New York in 1927. His parents, who were originally from Sweden and Norway, moved to Stockholm with him in 1928. Calmeyer’s father had been a notable industrial designer, who designed the “cobra telephone”. Calmeyer also painted under the name Nystedt Lysell. He was best known as a Swedish illustrator and fine artist.

He died in 2022.
