Joseph F. Cada

American, 1922 - 1993


Joseph Cada studied at the Institute of Design (The New Bauhaus) in Chicago from 1947-1951. During WWII, Cada was a Cyptographic Technician Code and Cipher Chief in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. for the European Theatre. He worked as an industrial designer and creative director for such companies as Fred Harvey, Lion Match Corp., Age Advertising and American Hospital Supply. His menu design for a Santa Fe restaurant won a design prize of menu of the year from the American Restaurant Association. Additionally, Cada won 4th place in a national competition for fabric and wallpaper design. Cada was also a professional photographer. He died in Chicago in 1993.
