George Frederick Buehr

American, 1905 - 1983


George Frederick Buehr was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1905, the son of notable artist Carl Buehr. Buehr studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and was a lecturer there for 32 years. From 1955-1957, he was the chairman of the art department at American University in Beirut, Lebanon. Buehr was married to another notable artist, Margo Hoff. He exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago and his work can be found in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Renaissance Society of the University of Chicago and the Smithsonian. In 1983, Buehr died at the age of 78 in Chicago.
