In 1924, Etta Benjamin Cien was born in St. Louis, MO. Cien and her husband, LeRoy Benjamin were notable vaudeville performers. LeRoy Benjamin and his brother gained national acclaim for their marionette act, the LeRoy Brothers. They opened for such headlining acts as Danny Thomas, Jimmy Durante and Louis Armstrong, among others. The couple lived in Hollywood, CA and after their performing days were done, in 1966, opened a framing store and art gallery called “Hillside House of Originals”. The couple sold decorative artwork and sculpture of their own creation and those of others. Hillside House of Originals had locations in major metropolitan cities across the country.
