Richard Bove was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1920. He studied at the Brooklyn Academy of Fine Arts from 1938-39; the Pratt Institute from 1939-42; the Art Students League from 1946-51; the Brera Academy, Milano, Italy from 1951-52 and the Pratt Institute, where he achieved his MFA in 1954.
Bove exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY, NY; the Whitney Museum, NY, NY; the National Academy of Design, NY, NY; the Pennsylvania Museum of Art Philadelphia, PA; the Boston Museum, NY, NY; Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn, NY; the Pratt Institute, NY, NY and the Art Students League, NY, NY.
He won such awards as the Louis Comfort Tiffany Fellowship in 1949, the Fulbright Fellowship - Italy in 1951, the Hallgarten Prize (National Academy of Design) in 1954 and the Emily Lowe Award Competition in 1952.
Bove was a longtime professor of art at the Pratt Institute, beginning in 1942. Bove died in 2020 at the age of 100.
