Janice Wetzel

American, 1917 - 2004


Janice Wetzel was born Janice May Johnson in 1917 and graduated from the American Academy of Art in Chicago. She married fellow artist and Disney animator Ross Wetzel in 1941. Wetzel began her career as a linen designer. She won a purchase prize from the Union League Club of Chicago and exhibited in the Chicago area during the 1960s and 70s. She and her husband Ross started a serigraphy and framing business in Wilmette, IL called Ross Wetzel Studios. Wetzel died in Hilton Head, SC in 2004.
